Diversity and inclusion

WSU's Career Services diversity and inclusion statement

WSU's Career Services Network welcomes our community's different cultures, identities, talents, and interests. We strive to provide an inclusive and welcoming space for students of all backgrounds to explore their career options and pursue employment that fits with who they are and how they identify. We stand united against racism, injustice, and inequality. As part of our mission to empower students and alums to thrive and successfully contribute to the community, economy, and future workforce, we are dedicated to connecting job seekers with career-related resources and job opportunities committed to anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion. We stand as allies to marginalized communities and offer community-specific resources as a commitment to affirming the values of equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Job seekers

Diversity and inclusion resources - Community-specific resources available to job seekers from historically underrepresented and/or disadvantaged backgrounds. Exploring these resources can help you connect with employers actively seeking to diversify their talent pool through professional networks and advocacy groups.

Employers - hiring responsibility statement

A diverse work environment understands, accepts, and values differences in race, ethnicity, age, gender, spirituality, ability, and sexual orientation. When an organization truly values diversity, it creates a sense of belonging for everyone. Wayne State University's Career Services Network is committed to connecting employers to our diverse student body. We hold all employers accountable for promoting a diverse work environment that provides equitable opportunities to all students, including Black, Indigenous, Students of Color, women, LGBTQ+ students, students with disabilities, and international students. We are committed to working with employers who support anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion for all students. If you are interested in hiring Wayne State University students, please contact the appropriate WSU career office to share opportunities, recruit talent, schedule information sessions, get involved on campus, and host events. Furthermore, we will support any interested organization in reaching high standards to ensure the WSU students and graduates they hire feel a strong sense of inclusion, respect, and belonging.
